• 5.0 out of 5 stars from Donnie -- Worth your time : As a child of the 50's, I grew up reading about space. Reckon it was round the 2nd or 3rd grade (1958'ish), when I picked up my first space related book. Back then, everything was still fantasy. But I was hooked. Over the years, I've come not just be a reader, but to involve myself as part of the story to be taken away. I discovered thus book purely by happenstance while surfing for something to read while waiting for something else to be delivered. This book is fast paced with believable characters. There is no drag in the storyline. Having served in the military, as the author tells us he did, I find the interaction between the primary characters to be somewhat truthful. As a Vietnam combat veteran, I find the nicknames given to be about on par when serving in a small unit. Everyone had to be known by something. The language in this book could be toned down a tad, but having served in a front line unit, I've known it to be worse. Not sure what the target audience is, but I'm guessing late teens to early adult. Overall, I liked the book. I found it to hold my interest enough to pre-order book #2. I've also perused the authors other series in the Kindle store. You can't go wrong with this first installment. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2021 )

If you like Terry Henry Walton and the Bad Company Series, you'll like the banter. It's a little over the top at times, almost to distraction. Of course, it also doesn't get into the extreme technical details of war in space which can drag out for half a chapter in other books. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Lcashless 1. -- An interesting premise, a pacifistic warship. : For the first book in a series this was OK. Very interesting mix of characters some good, some bad and of course one oddball. Some action, not enough for me, can’t get past the fact that the starship in this book is a pacifist. The story though is interesting not sure what I think about all the characters, maybe too many. Have to see where the series goes, I am willing to give the next book a try. Flying a small shuttle from the moon to the earth in 20 minutes stretches the imagination. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Skybear -- Great read : I've read quite a few books by Mr. Martelle and have never been disappointed. This is a great start to a new series. The characters are well written, their interactions entertaining and the storyline engaging. My only complaint is the addition of a "pretty face" at the end. I never thought I would enjoy military sci fi, but Craig set me off with his Metal Legion series, which was awesome. I was engrossed from the first page. The characters are well written and there is lots of humour amongst the team. I love the idea of a sentient Battleship and that works really well. That's for kids and people with short attention spans. And it has a great AI. I think I prefer AI's to people who leave snotty reviews when they have no writing talent themselves. Roll on book 2! The way it starts is a little jarring, like you've jumped into the story part way through, but stick with it and it soon makes sense. For a supposedly military unit the main characters are a disparate group with little respect for rank etc. Nevertheless the impression given is that they get the job done. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from doggyman -- Action and humour, what more could you ask for. : Another great read from Craig Martelle, Leviathan has been sitting for a thousand years humanity who have been at war with the Blaze Collective for decades manage to board Leviathan and get cooperation from the ship which is sentient.
